Provincial Exams

Students in the B.C. Graduation Program must write provincial exams in each of these subjects:

  • Grade 10 Language Arts
  • Grade 10 Science
  • Grade 10 Math
  • Grade 11 Social Studies (students can also meet this requirement by writing the exam for BC First Nations Studies 12)
  • Grade 12 Language Arts

Any student who takes BC First Nations Studies 12 must write the provincial exam. All other Grade 12 exams, except Grade 12 Language Arts, are optional. However, parents should note that some post-secondary institutions require Grade 12 exam scores for entrance. Writing Grade 12 exams can also qualify students to win provincial scholarships.
