Emotional Health

 

It’s normal for kids to feel sad sometimes – or angry or frustrated. But many children and youth have serious emotional or psychological difficulties.

About 15 per cent of children and youth in British Columbia have anxiety, depression, attention deficit or some other disorder serious enough to disrupt their – and their families’ – lives. And some mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, tend to emerge during adolescence, when their symptoms can be mistaken for typical teenage behaviour.
