Juan de Fuca Distributed Learning (School District No. 62-Sooke) offers grade 8-12 BC Ministry of Education authorized courses leading to grade 12 graduation. The curriculum is delivered using electronic delivery, face to face communication, paper-print based materials, or a combination of these. Electronic delivery includes online courses that use a computer-based delivery, conferencing, virtual classrooms, electronic mail service, seminars, group activities or a combination of these. Students enrolled in JDFDL may take their educational program from home, enroll full-time or part-time or combine a distributed learning program with classroom based instruction in a District school. The JDFDL program meets the provincial standards as outlined in the School Act and is directed and supervised by BC College of Teacher certified teachers. Students receive on-going assessments, report cards, provincial grades and a permanent student record for any courses taken.

The Ministry of Education established 9 Regional Correspondence Schools between 1984 and 1990 which subsequently became the Distance Education Schools. The Vancouver Learning Network School was established in 1990 and serves students within the Lower Mainland.  The Vancouver Learning Network school now offers over 200 online and correspondence courses.

The goal of the Okanagan Similkameen Outreach School is to provide high quality, flexible educational programming in a positive, responsive environment that empowers home learners. Since September 2002, Outreach has been providing students and parents with the resources and support needed to plan and deliver quality educational programs reflective of individual needs, values and philosophies.

The CHOICES DL program promotes academic choice through the utilization of technology to support learners in alternative and innovative ways. Our commitment is to facilitate individualized learning, cultivate personal growth and honour the diversity of ways learning takes place and can be demonstrated. The CHOICES Program fosters a three-way partnership between the family, the community and the school district.

The RMDLS was initially created to serve the needs of our out of area Sport School students. It now also provides learning opportunities for students both in and out of our district to take courses not currently available in their schools or for those who require flexible studies.
